2005 OLECHOTEL BELAU FAIR:
"Desisichii A Koted"
Every year Palau holds the Olechotel Belau Fair (OBF) on October 23 & 24. This year's Theme is as stated above "Desisichii A Koted" in english, it means "Strengthening Our Roots", the goal of OBF is to instill in our community sense of pride, and awareness for our unique culture and share our culture to our visiting guests. This fair will allow all visiting guests to see, hear, smell and taste Palau's traditional to contemporary dances, music, and foods from all the sixteen (16) states of Palau. Sharing our culture rich with traditions and customs and at the same time allow local artists to showcase their talents. There will be fun activities for everyone to enjoy. The following is tentative schedule for OBF 2005. Please check this site for updates from time to time.

OCTOBER 22, 2005 SATURDAY -- Venue TBA
6PM - 8PM Ngira (Mr.) Me A (and) Dirra (Miss) Olechotel Belau Pageant and Fashion Show

DAY 1-OCTOBER 23, 2005 SUNDAY
Programs will start at 7AM to 10PM. Set up of booths for exhibits, displays and private vendors will start at 7am. Programs will start at 8am and through out the day activities will continue such as, the Speargun Fishing; Visual Arts Exhibition with exhibition from Belau National Museum 50th Anniverary and Exhibition of Children's Artwork in Japan Expo 2005. There will be judging of Exhibits and Displays for these categories: 1)Flora and Fuana; 2) Weaving Competition; 3) Jewelry and Body Ornaments; 4) Carving Competition.

There will be Booths from each State selling food items, in addition there will be weaving and wood carving demonstration. By 11 AM to 12-noon the opening ceremony for the Olechotel Belau Fair 2005 starts. Through out the day there will be Live music entertainment with Palau's Local Artists. There will be Traditional Sport events held in the afternoon such as spear throwing contest, speed basket weaving, and blow darts, just to name a few. Toward the end of the day, as the sun is setting over the horizon there will be Performing arts (Recitals and Dances) with traditional chants and dance, story telling and contemporary dances. The program will end at 10pm.

DAY 2-- OCTOBER 24, 2005 MONDAY
2005 OLECHOTEL BELAU FAIR continues with live band entertainments, music contests, performing arts/recitals and dances continues through out the day. At 4pm - 6pm the closing ceremony begins with recognition of winners and awarding prizes, there will be a guest speaker(S) during the closing of the ceremony. The Master of Ceremony for 2005 Olechotel Belau Fair will be Mr. Tobias Marbou.
